I have always been a die hard fan of Roger Federer - even when I did not understand tennis much - I adored him as the most handsome man that could ever be. I admired his gentlemanliness. After joining Corrtech Energy, I started taking more interest in tennis as my husband used to play tennis and is a regular tennis player for years now and most of my learnings of the game has been through him. He has shown me some of the most spectacular shots and game highlights that left me in awe. Besides, he also introduced me to players of whom I had not heard of before. We have also watched some nice documentaries on tennis together.
Gradually, I started enjoying the game and watched some of the most amazing matches between Federer and his competitors. I had started loving him even more - He is known as "The Rolls Royce of Tennis" - On Point I would say ! The kind of respect he earns at all the sporting ceremonies and events, speaks volumes about Roger Federer. After twenty-four years as a professional tennis player, winning twenty Grand Slam championships and 103 singles titles, Roger hung up his racket at The Laver Cup in 2022. Roger continues to be involved in the game that he loves, while also working on off-court projects and philanthropy through The Roger Federer Foundation.
I had a dream to watch him play at Wimbledon or French Open some day, but after he hung up his racket in 2022, I now dream that we cross paths some day, somewhere and I can give him a tight hug for the awesome tennis player that he is and more so for the wonderful human being that he is. A few years ago, I had also started learning to play tennis with a local friend and quite enjoyed it for more than a year. I think I will pick up my racket again soon ! “Effortless is a myth” - I have heard his 2024 Commencement Address at Dartmouth College a couple of times, too !
But what I read about him today (through this article shared by my husband again, knowing my love for Federer), has made me fall head over heels in love with Roger Federer all over again. What a genuinely fine man he is ! His life and deeds echoes my philosophy for life, too - "you may be the best in your field; whatever that be, but if you are not a good human being, everything is meaningless".
For Roger Federer, already hailed as one of the greatest of all time, this may be his most meaningful legacy yet !
With Much Respect & Love Always.
Don't miss reading this beautiful chapter from his life (I am sure, there will be many more of them !):
